2019 Scholarship Recipients
Tyler Dietterich
Tyler has been a dedicated skateboarder for many years. When he’s not helping maintain his local DIY or staying involved in the process of opening the local borough-funded skatepark, he’s studying schizophrenia. A neuroscience major at Temple University who films with Brian Panebianco for Sabotage videos? Yes.
Spirit Miska
A Seattle-area shredder that attends the University of Washington. Spirit is deeply involved with S.A.L.T. (Sponsored by Alchemy Leadership Team), which brings creative learning opportunities to her area’s youth through skateboarding & art. Studying Public Health (& with a minor in American Indian Studies), she aims to work in the medical field. Keep it up, Spirit!
Ryan Clarke
Ryan lives in the greater LA area and studies Kinesiology at Cal State Los Angeles. Being involved in his skateboarding community is only a part of Ryan’s story. This member of the Pharmacy Boardshop family absolutely rips, stays on the Dean’s List, and may just be your future physical therapist.
Nicolas Sablan
Nicolas attended Appalachian State University where he was deeply involved in saving the only local DIY skatepark there. After graduating and living in Colorado for some time, he is back to school to solve the world’s problems from Cornell University in New York. Earning his Masters in Labor Relations in Ithaca is a great next chapter for this very involved skateboarder.
Michael McNulty
Michael loves skateboarding more than anyone and has worked hard to create a life for himself that maintains his frequent skateboarding and also contributes to society. After graduating from Rutgers University, Michael began pursuing a PhD in Mathematics at University of California at Riverside. His Instagram will show you how hard he rips when he’s away from his desk!
Marsha Howard
Our second scholarship recipient from SF State University, Marsha is a San Francisco native studying Child and Adolescent Development. After earning her Bachelor’s degree, she plans on pursuing her Masters degree in education. When she’s not studying or holding it down on her board in her local community, she works at the offices of Thrasher Magazine.
Landen Fergus
Landen is living and studying Philosophy & Literature in Pocatello, Idaho. When he’s not studying at Idaho State University, filming bangers at parks & spots, or working in the kitchen, he’s a father and a husband at home. A skatepark advocate in his area and great dude with lots of life experiences - we’re excited to see what comes next for him!
Hrach Asmerian
Hrach is a one-of-a-kind dude. He’s an apprentice to DIY trailblazer Clayton Graul, concrete ripper, and Neurobiology student who maintains great grades. This COPE Health Scholar just moved from Los Angeles to the bay area to study at UC Berkeley where he will continue doing well in the classroom and probably skate new spots and parks in NorCal!
